Fashion Queens For Momu By Bonami

his year, the Antwerp Royal Academy of Fine Arts’ birthday cake features a pyroparade of 350 candles. Needless to say, their worldrenowned Fashion Department claims a place in the spotlight as well, celebrating its 50th birthday with the exhibition Happy Birthday Dear Academie. Through 4 themes, visitors discover a selection of graduation work by different generations of the Fashion Department’s students, both famous and a little less illustrious. Topped off with an insightful glance at the student lives of the notorious Antwerp 6+1 (Walter Van Beirendonck, Marina Yee, Dirk Bikkembergs, Dries Van Noten, Dirk Van Saene and Ann Demeulemeester + Martin Margiela) and some of their signature pieces, the exhibition is a must-see for all fashionistas and fashionistos.

BONAMI contributes to this spectacle by means of custom-made Fashion Queen (and King!) mannequins, adapted for the expo’s special needs. Marked by the same high quality and design standards, but just a tad different. More slender and even more proud. Inspired by a purpose that couldn’t be more fitting, BONAMI provided all mannequins for the exhibition. It turned out to be a two-way joint-venture: influenced by the masterpieces our models shaped, we added 4 more positions to our palette and even a complete sex — our Fashion Kings display the same regal grace as their highborn better halves. See our Fashion royals for yourself between September 8th, 2013 and February 16th, 2014 at MoMu, Antwerp. More info
